COMPUTERS, LAPTOPS AND OTHER MANIPULATIVES
Across all year levels, teachers utilize the internet and other computer resources to support their mathematical teaching. The importance of real life mathematical experiences are recognized and teachers are providing students with webquests and investigations to support this notion. Students also use online teaching sites such as studyladder to reinforce their learning.
FISH KITS
FISH is based on Polya's heuristic approach to problem solving. The word 'heuristic' is from a Greek word meaning to 'find' or 'discover' which refers to experience-based techniques for problem solving, learning, and discovery. FISH is based on the use of readily accessible heuristic strategies and involves the use of metacognition and the Freyar concept model. Early Years Fishing (Catholic Education Services, Cairns.)
